Hello world!

June 25, 2007

Welcome to our blog on the use of digital in public affairs.

Increasingly we are seeing our elected representatives use the online world to find information and to reach out to voters beyond the traditional media; Blair congratulated Sarko in French on YouTube (see below for his lovely English accent), our Communicator in Chief in Europe Margot Wallstrom writes regularly in her own blog and of course Sego used her site to recruit an estimated 350,000 e-militants in her unsuccessful presidential elections campaign.

Here at FH Brussels we are also seeking to develop and use online techniques to conduct public affairs, after being converted to the cause by the missionary zeal of our digital practice leaders in London and D.C. Whether grassroots mobilisation or issue management, we believe online will increasingly be the place to be in order to have in impact on public policy in Europe. It is a whole new world for traditional government relations people, which brings us much closer to our American brethren’s practice of public affairs. This blog is about sharing that world as it develops.
